The Catamaran wedding, an all-time favourite, takes place in the late afternoon in the midst of the lagoon. Snacks and drinks are served around the short ceremony during which you exchange rings while the sun sets dramatically in the background.
When you tie the knot on a catamaran, you have a pristine environment, absolute privacy and the most romantic setting all at once.

The catamaran wedding arrangement includes:

  • - transfer from hotel to boat and back. If location permits, the catamaran will pick you up directly at the hotel jetty

  • - wedding Cake

  • - bridal and button hole bouquet; centre piece

  • - one bottle of sparkling wine

  • - photographer: 24 pictures in print and on DVD plus a photo album

  • - snacks: sushi, mini sandwiches (cheese/tuna), samoussas, gateau piment, chicken drums, mini canapé with marlin, mini tarts with tuna/marlin

  • - decorations: balloons, tropical flowers

  • - drinks including soft drinks: Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Orangina or Fanta; mineral water and Phoenix beer (local); South African rosé, white and red wines, Green Island Rum (local) and tropical punch; and Gin, vodka and whisky (standard international)

  • - Civil status officer to conduct the wedding (fee and transport)

Itinerary

The usual itinerary for the Catamaran wedding is as follows:

  1. Meet with Maurisun's Wedding Coordinator on the day after arrival. You may inspect the wedding location with the Coordinator, and combine it with a sightseeing trip.

  2. The official wedding formality must be completed in Port Louis at least two days prior to the Catamaran wedding.

  3. On the wedding day you will depart from the hotel jetty or beach by pirogue (local fishing boat). If boat pickup is not possible, car or van transport will be provided. On board the catamaran, everything will be prepared and personnel will be ready to attend to the wedding couple and their guests.

  4. The catamaran crew will sail out to a good location. A photographer will take pictures throughout the ceremony.

  5. The civil status officer will welcome the couple. He will introduce himself and explain the laws for weddings in Mauritius. The vows will be exchanged and recorded in the civil status book.

  6. The officer will declare the couple husband and wife. The newlyweds will sign their entry in the book.

  7. The ceremony normally lasts for about 30 minutes. The officer will be available for pictures during the ceremony, but  will returns to shore afterwards with the photographer.

  8. The chef and his assistant will serve dinner and drinks. Wedding cake and champagne are normally served after dinner, but can also be offered right thereafter the ceremony, if the couple wants to have pictures taken, as the photographer will leave before dinner. Dinner lasts until approximately 10 pm.

  9. After the cruise, the couple and their guests are returned to their hotel by car.
