La Pirogue Mauritius - 4 Star Beach Resort

A speciality at the La Pirogue is that the rooms open to a palm grove, set in well maintained gardens, with a view of the sea. There are inviting hammocks, gently swaying in the tropical breeze.

Soothing shades of coral and vanilla make up the décor of the rooms. All the rooms offer amenities that ensure that the stay is comfortable. There is an A/C, a balcony or a patio, mini bar, tea/coffee making facilities and satellite TV.

The bars and restaurants are grouped around the hotel's impressively large pool, which measures more than 1000 m² in area and which visually merges into the Indian Ocean.

Guests can enjoy multi-theme buffets at the main restaurant, Thatches. Or they could go for island cuisine at lunchtime and traditional tea with pastries and pancakes at the Paul and Virginie Restaurant. Dinner is a more sophisticated affair, with fine seafood and remarkable wines from South Africa and the new world.

The Beach Bar and Pool Deck, near the Nautical Club, serves a variety of light snacks in a relaxed atmosphere around the pool.  

Citronellas Café, located between La Pirogue and its adjoining sister hotel, the Sugar Beach Resort, offers a truly Mediterranean experience with traditional Italian cuisine.

Nights come alive with entertainment offered by the resort's resident band and world class theme shows, including Sega Shows.  

La Pirogue offers a myriad activities for the young and the old. Selected free land and water sports include activities such as basketball, bocci ball, beach volleyball, glass bottom boat, snorkelling and windsurfing.

Scuba diving (PADI courses available), big game fishing, parasailing, and horse riding can be arranged for at additional cost. Children and teenagers will find a range of fun activities at the Kids Club and Teen Club, where they may enjoy their holiday under the watchful eye of specially trained hostesses.

La Pirogue's guests have free access to the Sugar Club, the air-conditioned health and fitness centre in the adjoining Sugar Beach Hotel. The fitness centre is just a short walk away, on the other side of the palm grove. The fitness centre also houses a hair dressing salon, a beauty parlour providing beauty care and massages for a fee, and a sauna which is free of cost.

The Main Restaurant presents international cuisine at several live cooking-stations with themes. Light snacks and Mediterranean cuisine can be savoured at the Citronellas Café. On the offer at Paul and Virginie are popular island cuisine at noon and seafood specialties at dinner time.

Daily beach service and pizza-bike service under thatched parasols are available.

Bars are open from morning till midnight. The Beach Bar offers fresh juices, milk shakes and espressos, as also light snacks. The Blue Bar offers snacks and espressos plus tropical drinks, spirits and cold beer.

Sports Facilities

Free sports include sea and land sports such as kayaking, laser-sailing, paddle boating, glass bottom boat rides, snorkelling, water-skiing, windsurfing, aqua gym, water polo, tennis, aerobics, basket-polo, Frisbee, jogging, mini-football, mini-golf, ping-pong, bocci ball, billiard and volley-ball.

Scuba diving (PADI), parasailing, big banana and tube rides, horse riding and golf (with preferential green fees for Privilege Card holders) at the new Ile aux Cerfs 18-hole golf course or at The Links 18-hole course, both on the east coast, can be organised at additional cost.

Weather information

Sheltered from rough trade winds by the island's highest mountain range, La Pirogue enjoys the most privileged climate on the island.

 Additional Information

La Pirogue is located at Wolmar, at a distance of 5 km from Flic en Flac, 25 km from Port-Louis and 50 km from the airport. The nearest town with good shopping facilities is Quatre Bornes, which is located about 15 km from the hotel.

Transport to Quatre Bornes:

• It is a 35 min ride by public bus and costs Rs 20 one way.
• It is a 20 min drive by taxi and costs Rs 300 one way.

Hotels, Resorts and Villa Resorts

For all the accommodation, the check-in time is generally 14:00 (2 pm local time), and check-out time is 11:00 (11 am local time). Guests can ask for early arrival or late departure. Generally, charges apply equivalent to 50% of the normal rate for one night.

• Early check-in is considered to be as from 06h00
• Late check-out is considered to be before 18h00

Payment

You must pay a deposit at the time of confirmation of your booking. This is usually 30% of the total amount. Sometimes a higher deposit is required, if airlines or other service providers request full payment. This especially applies for airlines, and certain accommodations requiring higher advance deposits -this happens mostly during peak season.

If you are booking within 40 or less days of the commencement of your visit, full payment will be due right away.

Balances to be paid must reach our account no less than 35 days before your visit with us. If we do not receive all payments due in full and on time, we are entitled to assume that you wish to cancel your booking. In this case, we will be entitled to keep all deposits paid or due at that date.

For some group tours, an additional interim payment is required, of which you will be notified at the time of quotation.

Credit card payments may incur a surcharge, which is advised at the time of payment. The surcharge range between 1 to 3% of the total invoiced amount.

Modification and cancellation policies:

Any modification or cancellation of a confirmed reservation for services will entail additional charges equivalent to the corresponding costs charged by the service providers. These charges may include penalties, administration fees and bank charges.

Airline tickets are personal and cannot be modified, transferred to or replaced by somebody else's name.

We will do our utmost to facilitate changes before the travel date; however please be advised that most flight tickets are non-refundable and that our partners apply cancellation fees. If cancellations occur within seven days after booking of services, a 3% administration fee applies. Deposits for cancellation of confirmed services more than 7 days after booking are non-refundable.

Every service provider has their own cancellation policy and cancellation fee amount. Maurisun has standardised their payment terms and cancellation fees in an effort to provide our clients with a standard policy. We will advise upon booking if conditions have become more restrictive. We refer to the General Conditions if no others are stated in the price list or no special conditions are enclosed with the invoice.

General Cancellation Policy for accommodations after full payment has been made:

• Cancellation within 14 days of booking: 50% of full amount
• Cancellation within 7 days of booking: 75% of full amount
• Cancellation within 72 hours of booking: 100% of full amount
  
  

Cancellation conditions are generally more restrictive for accommodation during peak season (Mid December to mid January) with 100% of the full amount being withheld within 45 days of booking.
