The Sands Resort & Spa Mauritius - 4 Star Beach Hotel

Located at the end of the coastal road leading through the village of Flic en Flac, the Sands Resort provides peace and tranquillity. It lies within only a short distance from the village centre. The city of Quatre Bornes is 25 minutes' drive away, towards the centre of the island. A short drive south on the coastal road brings you into the heart of the Black River district, where the real Mauritius will embrace you with its variety of natural and cultural treasures.

Being one of the newest resorts on the island, The Sands was built to match the highest expectations. The place has been recently refurbished. Its rooms are spacious and comfortable. Every room affords a lovely sea view. Many facilities are arranged around the swimming pool, where the hotel guests may enjoy a beautiful view over the lagoon, with the landmark Le Morne Brabant Mountain in the background. In the evenings, the beautiful sunset adds to the romantic atmosphere.

The Sands Resort's main restaurant, Tamarin Terrace, where breakfast is served, features international cuisine and Mauritian specialties at dinner time. For a more unique Cuisine with an Oriental and Occidental culinary mix, The Spices restaurant offers a la carte dining. Sunsets at The Dolphin Bar, offers a wide range of Rums and Cocktails, which can be topped off with a fabulous view of the Tamarin Bay.

The swimming zone is sheltered by stone wave breakers. Outside the stone setting, the lagoon provides an exciting playground, with all kinds of water activities offered by the resort.

Binoculars is provided at the reception, to ensure that guests do not miss the exceptional sea ballet performed by the Tamarin Dolphins.

The Spa area has a beautiful Buddha. Candles have been placed all around the entrance pool, to create a subtle atmosphere. As you step in for your treatment, the Spa assistants will greet you and pamper you with a footbath to relax your body, before you are escorted to the massage room. The internal décor in the spa has been revisited and a softer colour scheme gives the place a much more relaxing atmosphere.

The main Restaurant, Tamarin Terrace, serves breakfast and dinner. The restaurant Spices offers a la carte dining. The Dolphin Bar offers light lunch and snacks. Room service is available from 7.00 to 22.00.

There is a spa that offers hammam, sauna, massages and facial care.

Sports Facilities (Sea and Land) include:

• Water ski, sailing, pedal boats, kayak, glass bottom boat, windsurfing, and snorkelling
• Floodlight tennis courts, beach volley ball, game room
• Yoga sessions on Tuesdays and Fridays

Facilities at the PADI diving centre and trips by boat and bicycle to watch dolphins can be arranged at extra cost.

For additional payment, golf package and transfer from the hotel to and from the Tamarina Golf course can be arranged.

Additional Information

• The hotel is located at Wolmar, which is 5 km from Flic en Flac, 25 km from Port-Louis and 50 km from the airport.
• The nearest town with good shopping opportunities is Quatre Bornes, which is located about 15 km from the hotel.

Transport to Quatre Bornes:

• It is a 35 min ride by Public bus and costs Rs 20 one way.
• The taxi ride takes 20 min and costs Rs 300 one way.

Hotels, Resorts and Villa Resorts

For all the accommodation, the check-in time is generally 14:00 (2 pm local time), and check-out time is 11:00 (11 am local time). Guests can ask for early arrival or late departure. Generally, charges apply equivalent to 50% of the normal rate for one night.

- Early check-in is considered to be as from 06h00
- Late check-out is considered to be before 18h00

Up to one child will be allowed to share the parents' room. The facility is free of charge for a child less than a year old. There is part payment for a child in the two to six-age group. For children above six years, the room rate is the same as for an adult.

Minimum two children may opt for accommodation in a separate room. The rate for two children in own room is the same as for a single room. If there is a third child, the rate applicable to a child sharing with parents applies.

Payment

You must pay a deposit at the time of confirmation of your booking. This is usually 30% of the total amount. Sometimes a higher deposit is required, if airlines or other service providers request full payment. This especially applies for airlines, and certain accommodations requiring higher advance deposits -this happens mostly during peak season.

If you are booking within 40 or less days of the commencement of your visit, full payment will be due right away.

Balances to be paid must reach our account no less than 35 days before your visit with us. If we do not receive all payments due in full and on time, we are entitled to assume that you wish to cancel your booking. In this case, we will be entitled to keep all deposits paid or due at that date.

For some group tours, an additional interim payment is required, of which you will be notified at the time of quotation.

Credit card payments may incur a surcharge, which is advised at the time of payment. The surcharge range between 1 to 3% of the total invoiced amount.

Modification and cancellation policies

Any modification or cancellation of a confirmed reservation for services will entail additional charges equivalent to the corresponding costs charged by the service providers. These charges may include penalties, administration fees and bank charges.

Airline tickets are personal and cannot be modified, transferred to or replaced by somebody else's name.

We will do our utmost to facilitate changes before the travel date; however please be advised that most flight tickets are non-refundable and that our partners apply cancellation fees. If cancellations occur within seven days after booking of services, a 3% administration fee applies. Deposits for cancellation of confirmed services more than 7 days after booking are non-refundable.

Every service provider has their own cancellation policy and cancellation fee amount. Maurisun has standardised their payment terms and cancellation fees in an effort to provide our clients with a standard policy. We will advise upon booking if conditions have become more restrictive. We refer to the General Conditions if no others are stated in the price list or no special conditions are enclosed with the invoice.

General Cancellation Policy for accommodations after full payment has been made:

- Cancellation within 14 days of booking: 50% of full amount
- Cancellation within 7 days of booking: 75% of full amount
- Cancellation within 72 hours of booking: 100% of full amount

Cancellation conditions are generally more restrictive for accommodation during peak season (Mid December to mid January) with 100% of the full amount being withheld within 45 days of booking.

Christmas and New Year's Eve Supplement will be charged as given below:

- Christmas Eve supplement: 66.00 Euros per adult and 33.00 Euros per child.
- New Year's Eve Supplement: 82.00 Euros per adult and 41.00 Euros per child.

Full Board Supplement:

- Adult: 27.00 Euros per adult per night.
- Child: 14.00 Euros per child per night.
